The air filter patent comprises a new combined three-element Heusler alloy in a nano-fiber, filament or coating. Integrating the alloy with current filter manufacturing processes allows the filter or material to attract or repel (depending on the three-element alloy used) airborne allergens, dust, and particulate matter while allowing continuous and unrestricted fresh airflow through the washable and reusable filtering material. The patent of the new fiber or coating, known as Zimac.
The patent (shown below) details examples of numerous applications that enhance and incorporate the ferromagnetic fiber or coating including a nose and sinus filter concept useful for filtering out pollen and allergens.
The next step is prototyping proof of principle Heusler alloy incorporated nonwovens and generating filtration performance data. This testing phase will provide a proof of concept that could be the basis for licensing and distribution of the material to coat or inject into commercial fabric compatible with Huesler alloy.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide an air filter for a variety of common uses.
Other filters will be manufactured and utilized within the automotive, industrial, aeronautical, medical, military and recreational industries. A few primary advantages of the present invention are that it is inexpensive to manufacture, easy to wash and replace, and comfortable to wear.
